Mount Emei (China)

Both Chinese and foreign visitors flock here in large numbers to visit the numerous temples and admire the wonderfully beautiful landscapes that can be seen from its summit: the panoramic views over the Sichuan Plain, the Sea of Clouds, and the Buddha's Light, an extraordinary phenomenon caused by refracted light that has provided a source of fascination for many pilgrims. The bravest rise at first light to admire, wrapped in thick blankets, the superb sunrise.

Mount Emei has been inscribed as UNESCO World Heritage jointly with the Leshan Giant Buddha, a huge statue (one of the largest effigies of Buddha in the world) carved into the cliff that you can visit and admire in the city of Leishan, 30 km from the mountain.
