Reviews of Hangzhou

Mohamed Diawara Travel writer

At 200km to the southwest of Shanghai, Hangzhou is the provincial Chinese capital of Zhejiang.

My suggestion:
Hire a pedalo and take a tour of its lake - the view of the surrounding mountains is well worth it.
Summary:

With a rich, architectural heritage and home to the stunning West Lake, the town has, for centuries, been recognized as one of China's gems. It has inspired artists over the centuries and been called a Heaven on Earth.

Hangzhou is one of China's most highly recommended destinations and can be easily explored by foot or bike. Make sure you visit the Lingyin Temple, which houses a a 20m high Buddha, considered to be one of the country's finest. Another must-see is the Six Harmonies Pagoda, a masterpiece that sits at the foot of Yuelun Hill and is a great place for a stroll. Try some local tea in one of the town's numerous tea rooms, which you'll stumble upon as you take a wander around the center's little sidestreets.
