Nestled on a hillside in the north of Guangxi Province, the small village of Dazhai is surrounded by a patchwork of terraced rice fields.

My suggestion:
To save time and wasted effort, the easiest way to get the best views, is to hire a local guide.
Summary:

Alongside its neighboring hamlets, it forms part of the Jinkeng Rice Terraces, being one half of the famous and immense Longji Rice Terraces.

Dazhai is part of the Yao community, a Chinese minority known for their traditional embroidery and manner in which the women wind their hair around their heads. The village has kept its traditional charm, even though several of its wooden buildings have been turned in to guest houses.

A hike that takes between 3 and 5hrs will lead you through its countryside to Ping'an, an equally pretty Zhuang and Yao village, whose paddy fields form the second part of Longji's domain.
