The charming little village of Ping'an, located in Longsheng County, in the Guangxi Autonomous Region, is the stronghold of the Zhuang and Yao ethnic minorities.

Summary:

Perched at an altitude of 800 m in the middle of the mountains, Ping'an is the ideal place to stop when exploring the incredible terraced rice fields of Longji (literally "Dragon's Backbone"). The rice fields, which are among the oldest in China, have been sculpted into the surrounding hills and are without a doubt some of the most beautiful in the world.

There are many who will tell you that the visit to Ping'an and surrounding area is one of the things they most remember from their trip to China. And with good reason: the opportunity to go on hikes through landscapes of rice fields, most often accompanied by a local guide, together with the warm welcome offered by the inhabitants and the chance to experience and learn about their way of life and customs (the traditional dress of the women, meeting the porters, the delicious local food, etc.) all combine to make the visit here an absolutely amazing experience.
