It is nicknamed " the Oriental Moscow " because of its architecture and is also known as the "City of Ice": winters are basically very long in Harbin, and the temperatures glacial. It is at this time of year that Harbin receives the most tourists, with the city hosting the Harbin International Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival. The works you can see there remain for over a month, and this exhibition of "frozen art" alone makes a visit to Harbin worthwhile.
The 2014 festival required the work of 8,000 people as well as 180,000 cubic meters of ice and 150,000 cubic meters of snow!
For beer enthusiasts, the city is also home to the Harbin Brewery, one of China's largest.
