What to put in your suitcase when travelling in Canada

Depending on the time of year when you leave and the kind of trip you're taking, you will pack your bags for your trip to Canada differently .

In Canada, it gets very hot in the summer, particularly in Quebec, where temperatures are in the range of 35 °C with very high humidity. Take light clothing with you. Nevertheless, in other regions and in the evening, temperatures are more likely to be around 20 °C. It's therefore important to take some slightly warmer clothing as well. Another point to bear in mind is that Canadians love air conditioning. It's therefore best to have a light jumper or cardigan, just in case.

If you're going hiking, take light coloured clothing, as this attracts fewer mosquitoes and black flies. Especially - above all else, - take some insect repellent with you. Mosquitoes and black flies are a real plague in Canada and can absolutely ruin a holiday.

In spring and autumn, temperatures can vary wildly. It can be hot in the day and freezing at night. Try to take outfits for hot and cold weather. In winter, take warm clothes and use layers. Add or remove layers as the temperature changes. Don't hesitate to pack tights or leggings - or long johns for men - and thermal clothing that retains heat effectively.

From a more technical perspective, don't forget to take an adaptor for electrical and electronic items. Canada's electrical system uses 110 volts. Most devices work very well without transformers, including laptop computers, mobile phones, and cameras. However, you could have problems with your hairdryer or electric razor.

In any event, if you do forget something, you can be sure that you'll easily find whatever you need in Canada.
