A Thousand Islands! In Quebec or Ontario? Actually, there is the River of a Thousand Islands in Quebec and the Thousand Islands region in Ontario. What's more, the two areas are about 250 km apart. Here we are talking about Ontario.

My suggestion:
The best way to visit this river park is by cruise boat. The best place to leave is from Gananoque in Ontario. It's a two hour visit between Toronto and Montreal.
Summary:

Before arriving in Canada, you need to know that the River of a Thousand Islands in Quebec separates the island of Laval from the North Shore. The other Thousand Islands region is on the St Laurent river, beginning at the island of Grenadier and ending near Kingston. This zone is officially called the National Park of the Islands of St Laurent and separates the province of Ontario in Canada from the state of New York in the United States.

Once you've got this sorted out, what is there to see? A string of American and Canadian houses built on the islets in the Saint Laurent river. One residence per islet, from fishing cabin to luxury castle, along the length of a wavy frontier that is almost impossible to guess at. Some of the islets don't even appear on the map. Some of the houses are valued at several million US or Canadian dollars. What connects them? There's only one way to get to your house: use your boat and tie up at your personal quay!
