This village in Mauricie, Quebec is an ideal destination for fishing and snowmobile fans. It's proof that taking a trip to Quebec is enjoyable both during winter and summertime.

My suggestion:
Saint-Alexis-des-Monts, a village at the end of the line. Another of grandad's gems was "I'm going fishing on the other side of the world, somewhere even your gran won't find me!"
Summary:

Founded in 1871, at pretty much the same time as Canada itself, this village is set in the country's own 'Lake District'. Whilst the mountains call to climbers, fishing fans will love doing the tour of the 600 lakes dotted around the region. As my grandad would say about White Lake - there are in fact 16 'white lakes' in Quebec.

The great thing about this village is its White Lake setting. I had the pleasure of staying there for three days; it was the perfect place to unwind and go on forest walks. I went trout fishing, spotted a black bear and visited a beaver dam. Sports fans can go kayaking, canoeing, quad biking or take a trip on a hydroplane. There's a list of summer activities available. And during winter, snowmobiling is a must!

An unsual feature is Saint-Alexis' suspended wood and rope bridge, built a century ago so that children could reach the school on the other side of River Loup.
