La Malbaie is a town in the east of the Charlevois region whose magnificent countryside makes it worth a visit. It's also well known for its casino which is managed by the province of Quebec.

My suggestion:
I like to spend two weekends a year in Charlevoix. In Winter at La Malbaie or Baie St Paul for skiing on Mont Grand Fonds and in the summer for a nature break with a stop in Tadoussac for a whale watching trip on the Saint Laurent.
Summary:

During your stay in Canada there's a good chance that someone will suggest a visit to Charlevoix. The best itinerary is to leave Quebec very early in the morning, have breakfast in Baie St Paul and dinner in Tadoussac, have a whale cruise at the beginning of the afternoon and then go to spend the night in La Malbaie. There are all sorts of hotels there, from B&Bs and charming inns with spas and massage treatments to luxury hotels.

In Winter you can do the same trip but replace the whale trip with a trip by snowmobile by adding a night to your trip. The river's hinterland has snowmobile paths with more snow than in the town. If you go in the Summer don't forget to go walking in the Hautes-Gorges-de-la-Rivière-Malbaie park. This park, which is part of the Charlevoix biosphere reserve, will please even the most ecological of you.
