Mauricie is a historical region of Quebec extending over an area of 40,000 km². It is often described as the forestry capital of Canada.
My suggestion:
If you want to find out more about the links between France and Quebec, visit the city of Trois-Rivières, which was founded in 1634 as only the second ever settlement to be established in what was then known as New France (it also has Canada's best poutine – a fast-food dish of French fries, cheese and gravy!).
Summary:
Every time I go to Canada I try to fit in a visit to Mauricie, a region where 90% of the 1.5 million annual visitors come from Quebec!
I still have very fond memories of seeing and experiencing Quebec's nature and wildlife for the very first time at Saint-Maurice Wildlife Reserve: large, unspoilt open spaces; forest stretching as far as the eye can see; and so many animals (beavers, bears, caribou, etc.) that you hardly know where to begin. Mauricie is simply replete with nature and wildlife, and has a plethora of outdoor activities to offer.
I also clearly remember the time I went walking between the cities of Montreal and Quebec, travelling the northern bank of the Saint Laurence River along the country's oldest A road, the Chemin du Roy: a very well-known and enjoyable tourist route!
If you are looking for nature, wildlife, culture and history, and all in a French-speaking environment, take my advice: head for Mauricie!

If you are staying in Mauricie you will see lots of picturesque natural scenery around you. The beautiful setting is aided by the friendly locals.
My suggestion:
I went to Mauricie at the beginning of the Autumn and, in my opinion, that's really the best time to go. The red, orange, yellow, brown and green of the trees make a perfect mixture and the result is spectacular!
Summary:
In Mauricie, the agro-tourist possibilities are very interesting and extremely varied. You can visit farms, try excellent maple products, taste original beers from micro-breweries, self-pick berries or apples, etc. It all depends on the season and your preferences.
If you go to Mauricie, apart from agro-tourism, you will have the chance to discover Quebec's true nature. There are lots of outdoor activities for all tastes: trekking, fishing, hunting, camping, canoeing, snowmobiling, etc.
It's true that there are parks all over Quebec, and even Canada as a whole, each one more beautiful than the last, but I really fell in love with Mauricie Park and I warmly recommend that you go and stay there.
