Prince Rupert is a small island in British Columbia, located right at the end of the Cassiar Highway. It's the perfect starting point to explore the Haida Gwaii Archipelago, going on an adventure in the grizzly sanctuary or heading off to follow the Inside Passage!

My suggestion:
The route to Prince Rupert is long but the detour is worth it, especially if you're interested in the country's indigenous heritage of Canada's First Nations. The road between Terrace and Prince Rupert, the Yellowhead Highway, is spectacular!
Summary:

During my year-long travels across Canada I had the pleasure of passing through Prince Rupert and exploring the surrounding region.

It left me with great memories of the warmth and friendliness of the people: I was welcomed wherever I went and greeted like a friend, especially in the pubs along the length of the local Waterfront!

The region around Prince Rupert is really worth exploring and you need to take the time to experience everything! For me, the trip to the Haida Gwaii Islands was too expensive. However, if the same applies to you, don't miss out on heading to the area and don't hesitate to find out more about Khutzeymateen, the grizzly bear sanctuary: any encounter with these animals is an unforgettable experience!
