Standing tall at over 6,000 metres above sea level, Mount Chachacomani is part of the Cordillera Real. Like its neighbour, Chearoco, this high-altitude formation is definitely a sporting challenge for all mountaineering enthusiasts. It goes without saying that you'll need to be in excellent physical condition to reach the Bolivian summit. It's also one of the least known mountains in the Cordillera Real, unlike the famous Huayna Potosí located further south.
The Chachacomani trek takes place over four days, typically during the southern spring and summer when the weather is warmer. You'll set off from the village of Cruz Pampa, which is about a 3 hour drive from La Paz, at more than 4,000 metres above sea level. You'll need to factor in around 6-7 hours of walking per day. The nights are spent in tents at the bottom of the mountains and... under the stars!
