Laguna Blanca (Bolivia)

A wild area surrounded by scenery with a thousand and one colours: this is what the surprising region of Sud Lípez in Bolivia, very close to the Chilean border, has to offer.

To discover the natural jewels of southern Bolivia, head to the National Reserve of Andean Wildlife, Eduardo Avaroa. Just like Laguna Colorado and Laguna Verde, Laguna Blanca is dominated by the Licancabur volcano. As the name suggests, this saltwater expanse is white. Go and discover Laguna Blanca around midday: the colours are even more vibrant when the sun is at its peak. Indeed, it's the minerals hidden just 50cm deep at the bottom of the lagoon that help to give it this milky look.
