To the east of La Paz, in the Altiplano, the Cordillera Real is an impressive range of snow-capped mountains. Fifty of them are more than 5,000 metres above sea level and thirteen of them reach 6,000 metres high. This magnificent setting lends itself perfectly to trekking. There are several different routes that you can take. Along the way, you'll discover extraordinary landscapes, wild animals in their natural surroundings, and several Andean communities.  
Be careful, most of the treks across the Cordillera Real are for hiking enthusiasts and for people accustomed to heights. But don't worry, each trail can be adapted to your level, whether you're an experienced or a part-time climber. It goes without saying that you'll need to be in excellent physical health for this type of activity. 
Situated at 4,690 metres above sea level, Laguna Jachcha Khasiri can be found while trekking from Palcoma (3,840 metres) to Mina San Francisco (4,300 metres). You'll need to factor in 2-3 days of walking depending on the weather and your pace. Going on this hike is a great way to acclimatise to the high altitude before setting off on a slightly more difficult trek.
