Santa Cruz (Bolivia)

The southeast is often ignored by tourists while on holiday in Bolivia, but it's one of my favourite parts. With its vast forests and red canyons, with toucans flying past in their hundreds and with all the brightly coloured flowers, the Santa Cruz region of the Sierra is as wild as it is beautiful. I arrived there after spending several days exploring the abundant nature and managed to find a good place to stop off at. It wasn't hard to swap the nectar of the flowers for the creamy cakes that were enticing me from inside.

Santa Cruz de La Sierra is a beauty in itself. The vegetation has managed to fight against urban development, or perhaps the city just didn't know how to get ride of all the greenery. I enjoyed walking beneath the huge trees and I loved admiring the churches and the cathedral which were lined with palm trees. The colonial architecture managed to impress me as well.
