The country's second most important town and only international airport, Paro is the ideal town from which to start your Bhutan trip.

My suggestion:
Start your tour by a visit to Paro's national museum to immerse yourself in Bhutanese culture and discover its myths.
Summary:

If you arrive in Bhutan by plane, you will most certainly arrive in Paro, if like me you leave from Katmandu, you will get a chance to see Mount Everest from the window, what a magical sight to behold!

The town itself has a Dzong that overlooks the valley, but most of all a museum your guide will most probably take you to. A word of advice, do pay attention, for the history of this kingdom is very rich and you run the risk of being lost for the rest of your stay in Bhutan otherwise.

Do not hesitate to saunter alone through this quiet town, you will be able to watch archery matches and discover the local market where yak meat is next to the (strong) pepper that the Bhutanese are so fond of!
