The Mekong Delta is the area in South Vietnam where the Mekong River forms a multitude of islands before finally flowing into the South China Sea.
My suggestion
There are lots of homestay type guest houses located on the delta's various islands. These offer the best accommodation option if you're planning to spend a few days in the area in my opinion.

Take the time to distance yourself from the bustle of the delta and visit the little villages on the river's banks in the countryside.
The Mekong delta is a must see because you will have the pleasure of exploring the canals, rice paddies, mangrove forests, marshes, islands and the villages which live on the river - splendid!
