My suggestion
There are lots of homestay type guest houses located on the delta's various islands. These offer the best accommodation option if you're planning to spend a few days in the area in my opinion.
The Mekong delta is a very lively region in the south which you should see during your trip to Vietnam!

Take the time to distance yourself from the bustle of the delta and visit the little villages on the river's banks in the countryside.
The Mekong delta is a must see because you will have the pleasure of exploring the canals, rice paddies, mangrove forests, marshes, islands and the villages which live on the river - splendid!

If you take a tourist trip make sure you check what's on the itinerary!
