Once one of the richest and most powerful cities in ancient Greece, nowadays Miletus is an interesting archaeological site, but not an unmissable one.
My suggestion:
If you want to visit Miletus I strongly recommend that you go to the museum at the site's entrance first, as it will give you a good introduction to the site.
Summary:
If the name of Miletus doesn't roll off the tongue as easily as that of
Troy, where the war of the same name took place,
Miletus was nonetheless one of the main cities of Ancient Greece. It used to be by the sea and held a strategic position during the period when the Greeks dominated the area. Although some amateur historians love this site, I have to say that I was a bit disappointed because I think there is not a lot left.
