I was amazed by the size of the town of Şanlıurfa: everything is central and therefore visiting it is very quick. I liked visiting the Kazzaz Bazaar - antique souks - where you can find mini treasures. Although this city is situated in Turkey, it has more of an Arabic feel, perhaps due to its religious atmosphere and its proximity to Syria. I didn't find my visit very interesting.
However, I strongly advise you to visit two sites in the province of Sanlıurfa. The old village of Halfeti is interesting to discover because it was was flooded and gradually disappeared in the River Euphrates. Then, be sure to stop off at Harran, an old trading city which dates from the Bronze Age. It's an outdoors archaeological site. After the visit, I invite you to relax in the museum's café and try a homemade ayran. Some visitors can also go on a tour by camel.
