Nemrut Dağ, a mountain in the province of Adiyaman, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The last Hellenic king, Antiokhos l (69-49BC) built a temple and sanctuary dedicated to Greek and Persian gods.
My suggestion:
The sunset is stunning, particularly when you're sitting next to five gods at the top of Mount Nemrut!
Summary:
Nemrut Dağ's peak is at 2,206 metres high. If you don't have a car, a bus will take you to the top of the mountain. The road is narrow and winding, but the air is unpolluted and the surrounding prairies stunning. You'll reach the summit of Mount Nemrut in about an hour. There's a cafe at the entrance to the site where you can cool down, as it can get really hot.
It took me 15 minutes by foot to reach the site's two terraces. The terraces are dotted with statues of gods and overlook the region's mountains. Both the architecture and scenery are amazing.
Be careful on the walk up - it's steep and can be slippery!
This site's best visited during summer.
