A large city mainly of interest as a winter sports destination.
My suggestion:
With its lack of tourists, the bazaar here is nice, but you really need to head for the mountains for something to feast your eyes on.
Summary:
Kayseri has manged to achieve the difficult feat of being both a city of considerable size and at the same time a place sadly lacking in interest. There is little point denying it: the main reason for visiting this godforsaken place can be seen in the background as you arrive on the freeway:
Mount Erciyes, the fascinatingly beautiful mountain located near Kayseri. When covered in winter snow, it provides a spectacular sight in the rather flat landscapes of Cappadocia, and its vertiginous slopes make it ideal for skiing.
