Uçhisar is a small, beautiful village in Cappadocia that has been a bit spoiled by the arrival of mass tourism.

My suggestion:
From Uçhisar there are numerous trekking trails which you can take to explore the natural beauties of the surrounding countryside.
Summary:
People who visit Uçhisar in Cappadocia will love its mix of geological marvels with amazing traditional houses. Right in the middle of the fairy chimney area in the national park, Uçhisar shows us that the local inhabitants have always known how to use the geological peculiarities of the region to their advantage, by building this troglodyte village which seems to cling to one of the chimneys, on the top of which is the town's castle, to the great delight of photographers.

Uçhisar is a little village in the heart of Cappadocia, Turkey. It's famous for its rocky, troglodyte peak, which offers stunning, panoramic views across the region.

My suggestion:
I suggest you climb up past Uçhisar Castle to watch the sun go down. You'll get a perfect view of the village's troglodyte houses.
Summary:
I spent five nights in Uçhisar and can tell you that it's one of Cappadocia's most authentic villages. I had the chance to stay with a lovely Turkish family, in little stone house opposite Pigeon Valley. During my time I was able to meet a lot of locals who were generally very welcoming.

Several trails head out of the town, so you can explore the Cappadoce region.

My suggestion:
If you head along Pigeon Valley towards Uçhisar, you're likely to meet a friendly, one of a kind person. He sells freshly squeezed orange juice, hosts quizzes, hands out little gifts and speaks a host of languages.
Summary:

Uçhisar (pronounced with a hard 'c') is in the heart of the Cappadoce region, the famous UNESCO classified site that's famous for its incredible volcanic landscape. The town is overlooked by an enormous rock formation, home to inhabited troglodytes! Uçhisar is, unsurprisingly, recognisable from far away.

The landscape is stunning and you can climb up around the town in whatever direction you choose. The four hikes we took from Uçhisar, heading towards Göreme, were amazing. Firstly there's the famous 'Love Valley', followed by 'Pigeon Valley' and the 'White Valley'. The hikes aren't difficult and lead through a verdoyant landscape, punctuated by tunnels and dotted with distinctive rock formations. Finally there's the incredible 'Pink Valley' where, if it rains, you'll see it change colour. The pink cliffs turn red and the white areas a pale green...

What surprised me in this town was how widely English was spoken - you can also pick up the UK newspapers and will find that most signs are translated into English.
