All year round, though it's more pleasant in summer
Wandering around the streets in the little centre of Gniezno is a very pleasant experience. Its medieval buildings have been relatively well restored, and at the central square, which feels traditional in atmosphere and ambiance, there are some beautiful Baroque facades to be seen.
However, the main attraction of Gniezno is its incredible cathedral, whose archbishop is the primate of Poland, making this one of the most important Christian sites in Poland; it is also the place where the kings of Poland were crowned, thus lending it similar importance to Westminster Abbey in London. The memories I have of my visit are those of a breathtaking 11th-century cathedral and a city with a very pleasant and agreeable little centre. In summary, this is an enjoyable place to visit in central Poland.
