My suggestion
Remember to take your pocket dictionary with you! Many of the island's families speak only Quechuea, Aymara and Spanish. Therefore, to get the most out of the time you spend with a host family, it's a good idea to be able to string together a few words of Spanish.
The Island of Amantani is one of two islands on the Peruvian side of Lake Titicaca. It is very small, only 9 km2, and you see it gradually appear from the blue background of the lake as the boat approaches. It has 4,000 inhabitants.
My suggestion
If you want to experience real Peruvian culture don't just stay for an hour or two, spend the night with one of the inhabitants. It will make all the different to your trip to Peru.
