We only spent a few days in Lillehammer on our way to Oslo, but we were surprised by how lively the town was. The Olympic Games were held there 20 years ago, but you can see traces of them in the town. It's something of a student town because it's home to one of the biggest schools of tourism in Norway. It's very easy to get around in Lillehammer because the town centre is relatively small and everything seems to be nearby. We managed to get around all the points of cultural interest in about two hours and we enjoyed the experience, even though all the locals said we should come back in the winter! They guaranteed the best snow in Europe and great après-ski parties. We decided to have supper in a bar and, although we didn't try their famous elk meatballs, our food was absolutely delicious. The locals that you'll meet in Lillehammer are very friendly and you can ask them for their opinion and recommendations on things to see and do during your <a href="/norway/">stay in Norway</a>.
