Gamla is an archaeological site that is revealing the ruins of a town of about 3,000 people from the Roman era. The site is worth visiting for its ancient synagogue, the public mikvah (a ritual Jewish bath), and the walls that protected the town during Roman attacks. The archaeological site is in a nature reserve. So you can explore the scenery of the Golan Heights, observe the many birds of prey which live there (especially the Griffon Vultures), visit one of the highest waterfalls in the region and also see the site's 700 menhirs which are more than 4,000 years old.
