A few years ago Mitzpe Ramon was one of those towns that you drove through without stopping on your way to Eilat. Today, things have changed and Mitzpe Ramon has become a destination in its own right. It is situated on the edge of the world's biggest crater created through erosion, with an exceptional view, which is what people often come to see. A walkway has been built along the precipice edge so you can really enjoy it.
However, apart from the view, it's easy to stay one or two nights in Mitzpe Ramon to enjoy one of its unusual hotels. During my last trip to Israel, I was lucky enough to explore the artists' quarter that my Israeli friends had told me about. There are cafes, restaurants and charming art galleries. And you almost forget that you are in the middle of the desert!
