During my visit to the area, I chose to visit Jerusalem, Nazareth and Bethlehem... but I also wanted to go to the desert to get a bit closer to nature. The Judean Desert is characterised by a variety of landscapes. Whilst walking in the Reserve of Ein Gedi I was captivated, the trek was pleasant, we followed a stream that meandered between steep cliffs, tracing a furrow of greenery in the heat of the sand and stone. Species of Ibex and large marmots climbing trees greeted us at the entrance to the park.
Swimming in the Dead Sea to conclude the walk in the desert is a relaxing end and full of virtues...it is said that the salt is full of blessings! You can access the sea from several places in the desert.
The Judean Desert is also an historical place, book a tour to the impressive fortress at Massada to gain some perspective.
