Panajachel is the natural point of arrival for tourists coming to Lake Atitlán. As a result, during my holiday in Guatemala, I discovered a pretty little village that is completely devoted to tourism.
In Panajachel, I found many hotels, guesthouses, restaurants and bars, as well as a pretty artisan market. For those looking for a quieter and more isolated place, I would recommend Santa Catarina Palopó, San Antonio Palopó, San Pedro, Santa Cruz, San Marcos or San Juan. Personally, I stayed in Panajachel, which I find more practical. It is from there that the buses leave for Chichicastenango and the greatest number of boats for crossing the lake are also amassed there.
In short, Panajachel is ideal for exploring the region in a few days and having a very pleasant stay.
