A historical mining town which greatly expanded, thanks to the quantity of silver discovered there, Kutna Hòra retains a sense of stately beauty despite the many tourists.
My suggestion:
Don't miss the Sedlec ossuary, a chapel entirely decorated by hundreds of human bones and skulls!
Summary:
Founded in the 12th Century and well developed, thanks to the value of its mines and its status as the residence of many Bohemian kings, Kutna Hòra stood shoulder to shoulder with the capital, Prague, for a long time , before falling into progressive decline. The city's significant past is still to be felt today in Kuta Hòra, which contains an impressive number of historical sites given its relatively small size. With a palace, churches, cathedrals and medieval streets, the city has everything it takes to be a well-earned stop-off point during a trip to the Czech Republic.
However, I should say that while I enjoyed the time I spent here, I did notice rather a lack of locals, due to the huge push towards tourism, which seems to be the only viable form of industry in Kudna Hòra today.
