Hradcany is the district that houses Prague Castle, well-known for its history as well as its charm.

My suggestion:
If you're with children, do a tour around the Toy Museum. It has an impressive collection of Barbies (vintage of course).
Summary:

I'm offering you my secret itinerary for visiting Hradcany and the castle, a must see in Prague but also during any trip to the Czech Republic.

First, get on the number 22 tram and get off at Pohořelec. Don't do it like all the tourists who get off at Pražsky Hrad (literally, the castle of Prague)... Before going within the outer walls of the castle, you'll be able to take selfies with the guards who are always unblinking. Then, after having visited St Vitus cathedral, go to the famous Golden Lane. Here it's possible to go in tiny colourful houses to discover the local crafts industry, to see old torture instruments or even to fire a crossbow!

Leaving again, go in the direction of the Old Castle Steps, beautiful stairs frequented by vendors and painters. There is great charm and the view is superb.

The district that is home to Prague Castle, Hradcany majestically overlooks the "City of a Thousand Spires", and includes some of its most famous sites.

My suggestion:
If you go for a walk in Hradcany, don't forget to visit Novy Svet Street, a tiny alley with little one-storey houses that look like doll houses.
Summary:

Hradcany is one of Prague's main districts, and it's located on a hill on the right bank of the Vltava River. The district gets its name from the Prague Castle (Prazsky Hrad), which dominates the city with its enormous complex. The President of the Republic's residence and home to the magnificent St. Vitus Cathedral, Hradcany is without a doubt one of the most famous districts in Prague and a must on a trip to the Czech capital.

You should be aware, however, that despite all its historical and tourist advantages, sometimes there are so many tourists in Hradcany that it can become difficult to fully appreciate the place. A little word of advice: try to come in the off-season, when Prague is full of charm but not yet full of visitors!
