My suggestion
The city of jasper itself isn't particularly interesting: it's a pleasant enough place to stop and eat or sleep, but there's nothing about it that amounts to a must-see. However, it does contain the information centre for the National Park.

Jasper National Park is Canada's biggest national park. It's in the Rocky Mountains, in the province of Alberta, and next to the National Park of Banff.
My suggestion
It's absolutely unmissable if you love nature or photography. I recommend you visit in Summer, to avoid the rigours of a Canadian Winter, but go in September rather than in July or August.
