Travelling to Brazil with a French-speaking guide

When planning your trip, the question of knowing whether you are travelling alone or with a guide is often asked. A solution that might be interesting during a trip to Brazil, at least for certain locations, particularly those that are the least prepared to welcome tourists, or the largest cities.

Numerous tourists in Brazil reveal that they have sometimes had difficulties during the trip because of the language barrier. It's an illusion to think that you can get away with a few basic words in Spanish, because this language has nothing to do with Portuguese, if you need to be reminded. As for English, it's only slightly understood, and outside the major cities, even less. Therefore, a guide might be an invaluable resource in this regard.

Quality essential information

Despite appearances, Brazil isn't a country that is easy to approach, and being accompanied by someone allows you to get around easier in the cities, in the country, but also to learn the cultural codes, which could turn out to be very useful. If you made an effort during the World Cup, directions in the cities, in the museums or on the road are quite basic. The same applies for opening hours of certain historical sites and churches to visit. Travelling with a guide ensures you don't find yourself at the foot of a monument that you can't visit due to a lack of information. Also a way of saving time!

Passionate about history, geography, science, culture, etc. get ready to discover sites with very few explanatory signs (when they exist) and which are sometimes only available in Portuguese. Likewise for guided visits. If generally you prefer to travel independently, it might be worth better planning certains visits with a guide, for destinations that are slightly further away, such as the Pantanal, or the Amazon, but also for cultural destinations such as the historic cities of Minas and Salvador, for example. A guide will always enable you to learn morethan simply reading half a page about it in your tourist guide.

A guide is essential for the Amazon or the Pantanal

Do you like visiting large cities?

In large cities such as Rio de Janeiro or Sao Paulo, the great advantage of saving time in finding you way in these enormous and complex cities, it's good to be able to have someone who will give you the good addresses to discovering the real life of the Cariocas and the Paulists. A guide also allows your to go off the beaten track and discover a few gems, away from tourists.

For a place as rich as Brazil, after having talked with the guide, he can also take you towards excursions that you wouldn't have thought of and that match your tastes. Someone who knows the country and the area well can only have good information and locations to pass on to travellers. A solution that will finally delight those who don't want to be overwhelmed by the material organisation of their trip.
