During my first trip to Bolivia, when exploring Salar de Uyuni and Sud Lípez, I had the opportunity to stop off in the charming village of Jirira.
After travelling many kilometres through the vastness of the largest lithium reserves in South America (Salar de Uyuni), we finally got to see Jirira. Sat 3,800 metres above sea level, between the cacti and the white salts, the charming Bolivian village is located on the north bank of Salar de Uyuni, at the foot of the Tunupa volcano. We then set off towards the hamlet's small white church. This pristine church dates from the colonial era and is the pride of the village. After a quick visit, we took to the road again in the tranquillity of the desert.
