A National Park in the south of the majestic Kakadu, Nitmiluk reveals magnificent waterfalls and gorges of the Katherine River.

My suggestion:
As for the rest of the region, it is best to visit during the dry season (April to November) to make the most of the activities and milder weather.
Summary:

I found it hard to believe, after leaving Katherine, a dusty, desert town; that just a few kilometres away I could expect to find a magnificent country haven of waterfalls and cascades, superb gorges carved into the red rock and ancient Aboriginal sites.

I had the chance to participate in a canoeing activity in the gorges, which made the day even more special and memorable. Indeed, while the view may not be as impressionable as the national park of Kakadu, just to the north, you can enjoy diverse activities which can make travelling through Nitmiluk great fun, especially the boat trip.

For anyone exploring the Northwest Territories during their stay in Australia, it is a site that must be visited.
