A small village with wooden houses and rice fields surrounded by a river, with a unique spirit. It's Mae Sariang.

My suggestion:
Hire a motorbike or a bicycle if you don't have much experience driving in Thailand.
Summary:

Surrounded by the Yuam river, Mae Sariang is a small village which reminds what Thailand is like when we take away the beaches and the millions of tourists who, year after year, come to the country. You will see two-storey wooden houses, surrounded by an incredible green that seems unrealistic.

If you want to relax, my favourite activity is to go and observe the fisherman do their daily duties, it's like time was slowing down (as well as my heartbeat).

Finally, one of my passion during my trip to Thailand was to visit temples and there are a few interesting ones in Mae Sariang. Although they don't have large sculptures, I liked for example Phrathat Jom Mom or Wat Phra That Jom Jaeng.
