Thale Noi, as its Thai name suggests, is a little sea (an inland sea in fact), located in the province of Phattalung.

My suggestion:
It can take up to two hours to tour round it and, as usual for Thailand, it gets hot. Carry a bottle of water to keep yourself hydrated!
Summary:

Thale Noi is an ecologically important area in Southern Thailand. Because I regularly stay in Nakhon Si Thammarat, I visit this southern part of Thailand a lot. It is often ignored by tourists, so those who like to get off the beaten track should really enjoy it. On this particular day it was Pattalung I was heading for, the province where Talay Noi is located.

To explore the lake you have to rent a boat. I borrowed a hat to protect me from the sun as I toured the lake. Thale Noi is famous for its wildlife, especially the numerous migratory birds that stay there. And I wasn't disappointed. There were all kinds of birds hiding in the reeds and other types of vegetation covering the lake.

On occasion you also come across water buffalo, grazing against a backdrop of mountain peaks and birds taking flight. It really is a nice atmosphere. Before leaving, I climbed up to the temple, which sits on a hill not far from the lake from whereyou can see the surrounding area and enjoy superb views out over the whole ofThaleNoi.
