Hahoe (South Korea)

Hahoe is one of the largest traditional villages in Korea. The houses with tiled roofs, the wagas, and those with thatched roofs, the chogas, are very well preserved. The village was built in the shape of a lotus and is surrounded by water. A stroll through the heart of the streets of the village or along the river will allow you to enjoy the quiet charm of the place. The inhabitants have been able to preserve their traditions as well as their houses. The place was not created as a destination for tourists.

The Byeolsingut mask dance and the Seonyujulbulnori fire show are traditional activities that are still perpetuated today. The mask dance has its origins in shamanism and performances are organised several times a week. Apparently, you can also dance with the actors at the end of the show, but I haven't tried it.
