The region of Hadong is composed of a group of valleys separated by mountains. The main city of Hadong-eup is of no particular interest, apart from its bus terminal which enables you to reach other places in the surrounding area, such as the city of Hwagae. Ssanggye-sa Temple, a few kilometres from the city, built between two streams in the middle of the forest, is worth a visit for its very beautiful decoration.
The city, or rather the village of Agyang, is one of the best producers of Korean tea . It is grown at the foot of the mountain in the traditional way, without fertiliser or pesticide. These plantations are more rustic than the very orderly plantations at Boseong, but I found them just as beautiful. The surrounding landscapes, with the mountains, river and plantations, are superb.
