On the advice of a native friend, I decided to stay on the island of Pamilacan in order to make the most of the beach, seabeds and the peace. I crossed from Baclayon, at sunset, with people who were returning to their homes. We were greeted by several pods of dolphins during the trip.
As the island is inhabited mainly by fishermen, the tourist accommodation is directly in the home of the locals, which makes the stay fairly authentic. There aren't many restaurants/bars, as the price of the accommodation often includes the meals. It's really a good way of mixing with the peoples' culture. The person I stayed with offered boat tours to admire the dolphins and I was even able to swim with a few of them!
If you like to relax at the seaside without lots of tourists, this is a must-see stopping place during your trip to the Philippines.
