Dumaguete is a town to the south of Negros Island. It's known for its university and proximity to Apo and Siquijor Islands.

My suggestion:
The town doesn't have much to offer tourists, but is a great base from which to explore the area.
Summary:

The seafront at Dumaguete is fun and you'll find plenty of places to eat, have a drink or spend a night clubbing. It has a huge student population and is a favourite with English-speaking expats.

There are lots of places where you can hire a moped and tour the area, including the Twin Lakes and Dauin Beach. You'll also be able to find suitable accommodation in Dumaguete. There's something for everyone - hotels, guesthouses, youth hostels...

The only interesting building is the Campanario, a reminder of the Spanish occupation, situated in the centre of town. In short, it's an enjoyable stopover during a trip to the Philippines.
