Bandung has been called "the Paris of Java" due to its atmosphere, which reminds you a bit of some large European cities. Today, this Indonesian city is a very large academic and industrial centre.
It is true that some buildings are remarkable and that they stand out from the traditional Indonesian landscape, but you can't really compare Bandung to Paris...
Unlike Jakarta, I found this city quite pleasant, namely due to its having pavements, which definitely makes walking through the city easier! The city is situated at an altitude of 750 metres so the climate is cooler than in the capital, which I greatly appreciated.
I really liked being able to stroll through the small districts that were a little out of the way, talk with the locals who are not necessarily used to seeing tourists, and take photos with the children playing in the street. These photos are a beautiful souvenir of encounters with the local population.
