On Java Island, between two giants, the Gunung Semeru and the Kopolo volcanoes, lies Kali Mati.

My suggestion:
Reaching this base camp requires you to be physically fit, do not take any risks if this is not the case with you.

Indonesia is an archipelago with many islands and a lot of them are of volcanic origin. The country has the privilege of having at least 400 volcanoes, some of which are still active.

Kali Mati is the base camp on one of the Gunung Semeru's slopes (Java Island's highest peak). This whole area is protected and has been declared a natural reserve since 1992, and is gradually attracting more and more tourists.

What marked me the most about the visit to Kali Mati is that the volcano is constantly active, expelling smoke, ashes and gas. It is really impressive, but not dangerous, as it is residual activity, more or less stable since 1967.

In conclusion, this is a place where nature can be appreciated in its pure state.
