Pasir Putih beach is a well known place in Java, on the Probolinggo coast.

My suggestion:
Avoid it when the Indonesians are on holiday.
Summary:

This is a famous beach. I think it may be because it is close to Java's volcanoes and because there is lots of different tourist accommodation. The beach's sand isn't white, more sort of grey. It is generally clean and has some beautiful views but that's all you can say compared to some of Indonesia's other idyllic beaches.

I found it a good place to see what Indonesians do at the beach but apart from that there's not much that's interesting here. Apparently the boat trips are nice, but the sea beds are nothing extraordinary.

There are half a dozen restaurants around but they are nothing special either. In brief, I don't think that Pasir Putih beach is worth making a special trip to.
