Dieng plateau (Indonesia)

When visiting Indonesia, and particularly Java, it's rare to visit the Dieng Plateau. I did. I have mixed feelings about it because, unfortunately, due to its location in the middle of the mountains, Dienghas a very humid and rainy climate, that is also cold in the evenings and at night, the whole year long.

This spoils your pleasure a little...but it didn't stop me exploring the surroundings, on foot the first day. I began with the emerald green acid lake of Telaga Warna. Then I visited the ruins of a little Hindu temple, followed by the larger complex of Arjana. I ignored the rain and stayed another day to rent a scooter and explore a bit further.

I intended visiting a lake and a crater but I stopped a bit before I got there when I saw the clouds rolling in: the rain is never far away in Dieng...My best memory is seeing the sun rise, after an hour's walk, giving me a superb view over Wonosobo and the valley, with the sun's rays penetrating through the cloud cover.
