Tsapatagh is a small village on the shore of the magnificent Lake Sevan, on the southern side of its eastern shore. Although it is not very developed for seaside activities, it still has beaches and a renowned hotel. The village itself, however, has hardly any attractions.

Like the whole of the south-eastern shore of <a href="/armenia/">Lake Sevan</a>, Tsapatagh has very little infrastructure. Tourism is a lot more sporadic there than on the other parts of the lake. The modern and luxurious boutique hotel Avan Marak Tsapatagh is an exception, a "beach resort" which offers all-inclusive stays with a swimming pool and a spa. 
Apart from this establishment, the corner of Tsapatagh appears almost desolate, a strange sight on the shores of this splendid lake, the largest in the Caucasus and one of the highest lakes (at 1900m) in the world. This is without doubt due to greater isolation and to being close to the border with Azerbaïdjan, which Armenia is only just in a cold war with.
But we can enjoy the advantages of this under-development in Tsapatagh, as the shores of the lake are visited mainly by fishermen, there is immense peacefulness and you can walk along the beaches alone, contemplating the beautiful colours and the panorama of the mountains on the other shore.
