Rio Cobre (Argentina)

In southern Mendoza, in the department of Malargüe, Valle Hermoso is a great place for those who love trekking, horseback riding, mountain biking and fishing. In this splendid valley, at the foot of the Cordillera of the Andes, the Rio Cobre and the Rio Tordillo supply water to the Rio Grande, one of the most important rivers in southwest Argentina.

The clear waters of the Rio Cobre, one of the major tributaries of the Rio Grande, are accessible from the Valle de las Leñas, located about 12 miles away. What's special about these waters? They are full of fish: brown trout, rainbow trout, etc. The fishing season usually starts in January and ends in March.

If fishing isn't your thing, you can go for a horseback ride, which will take you to a thermal pool. If you so desire, you can swim in these warm sulphur waters. A good time to spend with the family!
