Chile Chico...just the name made me want to stop there! There's not a lot to see or do, but it is a nice place to stay during any trip to Patagonia. It was very beautiful that day I stopped there and there was a strong wind (was that the famous Patagonian wind?)
There was a very special atmosphere in the town that morning; all the inhabitants were looking at something in the sky. It was true that if you looked closely you could see a fixed white spot. I was curious so I asked people what it was, but nobody really seemed to know, apart from a woman who told me very seriously that it was bound to be extra terrestrials...I still don't know what it was but, anyway, the last I heard, little green men still hadn't landed in Chile Chico!
All joking apart, Chile Chico is above all, a place to stay when you are going to or leaving Argentina. Whilst you are spending a few hours there, why not go up Cerro Banderas tower where you will get a good view of the lake, or eat a little "cordero patagonico" (a lamb dish) before dashing off?
