I hitched a ride from Coyahique in the morning, intending to cross Lake General Carerra to go to Chile Chico. The ferry was at the end of the afternoon so I had all the afternoon in front of me and decided to stop at Villa Cerro Castillo to look at the mountain that is famous for its beauty, and for the peaks shaped like the castle for which it is named ("castillo" means "castle " in Spanish).
Villa Cerro Castillo is very very quiet. I had plenty of time to look at the jagged peaks of Cerro which really are impressive. The place is strikingly beautiful. I was just going to walk for a bit along the famous Sendero de Chile when I realised that I had absolutely no time! Too bad, I had to be content with looking at the mountain from a distance. While waiting I got hungry and i went and got an enormous sandwich in the only restaurant that was open in the village (no point being too picky about the menu either...).
