Onelli Glacier is located in the famous Los Glaciares National Park, in Santa Cruz Province, in Argentinian Patagonia.

My suggestion:
Take the shuttle from Calafate to Los Glaciares National Park; it's the most practical and economic solution.
Summary:

To discover Onelli Glacier, you need to go to Argentinian Patagonia, to Los Glaciares National Park. The most spectacular glacier in Argentina, Perito Moreno, is located in the heart of this beautiful nature reserve.

In order to admire the glaciers from the best vantage point, we opted for a day cruise on Lago Argentino. We scheduled an appointment at the small port of Punta Bandera, a town located about an hour from El Calafate.

We started our trip at the north arm of Lago Argentino, and the first icebergs unveiled their incredible neon blue colour. The panoramic view all around us was exceptional: we were surrounded by the Andes and the sun was reflected on the turquoise blue waters of Lago Argentino.

Upon arriving at the Spegazzini Channel, we saw the glacier of the same name, and then it was on to the Upsala Glacier, one of South America's largest glaciers. After a few more miles, we finally arrived to Onelli Bay. Then it was time to disembark and discover the little beech forest that is home to the bay. We came to a beach with ice blocks, and then we were face-to-face with Onelli glacier... A magical excursion...
